Mix a pint of ambition with a shot of testosterone

As some of you may remember, I went through heartbreak over 6 months ago now – it was a tough and a painful time, but I am definitely on the road to healing because I have been busy trying to build my marketing business. I am focusing wholly on the business at the moment, and I want to see it grow and prosper, so I definitely don’t have time for men who are not serious. I am not dating right now and I am not looking for a boyfriend but I have been thinking a lot lately about what my ideal man is – I just want someone who has drive.

By blokes who are serious, I mean those kind of blokes who don’t know what they are doing in their life or they do have a good career but they are always talking about how they are going to do this and that but actually don’t even try. Or those brothers who are stunting about how much they have, but have not actually worked for it and it is all inherited through one way or another.

Is it too much to hope for a man who has drive, determination but most of all, is trying to get himself to where he wants to be? I would be very happy being in a relationship with someone who was trying to do their own thing, whether they want to reach the top of the corporate ladder or go to the Moon even if he did not have a lot of money, I would love to build something with someone. Be part of a team – it must be a Taurus thing because Adele, a singer who I adore, made similar comments about how she is attentive in a relationship and will do anything for her man. She is a Taurus and so am I – and this is something us Taurean birds have – we want to be part of a romantic team, we want our partner to flourish through dedication and love.

Taken during a short break from prospecting today! I needed some fresh air and took the pictures of my afro on the balcony at work – got to have breaks!

One of the biggest things I have noticed recently is what a time-vacuum natural hair. I really do like being natural but it takes up so much time which is why going to the hair salon makes a lot of sense – I understand the merit behind people who go the hair salon now because taking care of hair really time-consuming. This does inspire me to actually spend lots of time focusing on getting good clients so I can afford the luxury of having a stylist to take care of my hair who knows what the hell she is doing.

Do you think natural hair is time-consuming?

I handed in a proposal to a prospect yesterday – they are in the loan industry, an industry which I have one current client. I like creating marketing campaigns for business clients in the loan industry – and I know that specialising is the way to go, but I can’t help but feel such separation anxiety when it comes to actually getting down to it and specialising because I get so distracted by other niches such as fashion wholesale, beauty, & the baby product industry, but I know it’s very important to specialise.

Is it important to put separation anxiety aside when specialising?

I had a phone conference earlier this week with a prospect that I wanted to land.They want to meet face to face which means this could be an account that will go back and forth for a while if they do like my ideas and decide to go ahead with me. If they don’t want to go ahead with me, then it means the proposal is not accepted and they don’t like my ideas.

I did a call for action, ie if I could send them a marketing proposal, and they emailed me again yesterday to ask about when the proposal was going to be sent. In my phone conference chat with them, I did not specify when I was going to send it in hindsight, I should have specified the date of when I would send it but I hope this is minor mistake. I emailed them back todayto say that I would send it early next week* because I want to ensure that my ideas are sizzling for them and I don’t want to deliver a shit proposal.

Creating proposals is full of pressure and it can be extremely difficult because when a prospect acts for a proposal, they don’t want a cookie-cutter template that you would send someone else – they want to know that you care about their business and what they are truly about. That said, prospects who want to see proposals are prospects who are unsure of what they are so it is important for the proposals to make sense without being too specific or overwhelming them.

I want to impress this prospect – and I know I need to step it up because they should not be emailing me to ask when the proposal is coming. We spoke on Thursday and they emailed on Saturday, we live in an instant Nescafe world where people want things now and it is crucial to have quality control while still delivering quality work as soon as the prospect/client wants it.

I should be able to release some of my savings so I can start the ball rolling to moving out in the next fortnight or so.

I have to move out for my emotional wellbeing and my mental health. I know I am going to be so much happier once I am not living at home. It’s nothing personal against my mum or my family members. I know how hard my mum works/worked to provide for me and my siblings – that said I have just outgrown living at home and reporting to people.

I want to live my life and I know I need to make that happen. I want to sort myself out, build my company, travel to London, New York, Atlanta and enjoy being a young single woman. I have really started to recover from the break-up which took so much of my time last year and moving out is the next step. I can’t explain how much I want to move out so it is just a question of making that happen.

I haven’t commented about Whitney since it happened because I’ve been processing the news, but it was such terrible news to hear she passed away on the 11th February and the funeral took place yesterday.

I remember posting about Whitney when she came to the UK in ’09 to promote Million Dollar Bill and on her X Factor performance, that voice is still there and she sang her heart out. I hate how people are dragging her name in the dirt – it is clear she loved her daughter and she is probably the best singer to have ever graced this earth.

Going to miss her.
